Sonnet: A Loftier Perspective

Our Mother Nature paints a masterpiece
Upon the morning and the evening sky
To bring our minds to calm and hearts to peace
Although we pass it all unseeing by

Noticing not her so painstaking care
In choosing colors warm, serene and bright
Remaining of artistry unaware
Designed although it be for our delight

Did we but gaze upon each daily gift
With something close to its deserved respect
Allow it — glorious! — our hearts to lift
A loftier perspective we’d elect

As Mother Nature paints, she heaves a sigh
As if to say, “Take heed! Heaven is nigh…”
