They say the good are tested
and the evil are punished.
When hardship falls upon man,
it is his past that defines it;
either a punishment for his sins
or a test of his faith.
For a punishment must steer
him towards the light,
and the test must strengthen his resolve.
Yet there are those
that were never too good nor too evil.
Those whose sins pale in comparison
to the hardships that befall them
and their faith stands too weak
to be burdened by such a tribulation.
Can man not then question
God’s scales of justice?
Is he in the wrong to seek an answer?
