Root and Wing, by J. W. Cassandra

I am tethered with the
Root of responsibility,
The edge of the sharp root
Cut off my freedom-wing.

I tore out all my roots,
All the ropes fell down,
The painful torment remains:
My wings will never live again!

Root and wing
Are nothing but
Rope and shadow –

Expect nothing!
Root and wing:
Are rope and shadow…
