Butterfly on the Sea, by J. W. Cassandra

I saw a butterfly
On the sea of lavender,
A swallowtail to fly
From flower to flower.

She waved her wings
On the bluish purple sea,
Till the petals sighed,
„You could be my sign!

You could be my sign
For the eternal life!”
But the swallowtail numb,
Flew on; withering petals’

Shame quivered in her spot…
I saw this from close,
Till from far, the bluish sea
Stayed eternal as she took flight…
