Poppy, Dancing Flame Dance,
by J. W. Cassandra

Your blood-red cover of petals
Keeps confined a flash,
And you are the flash’s captive,
Though dancing, you don’t know it…

Then the flash is slipping by,
Your cover of petals falls down,
You may recognise yourself:
You’re bare stalk ’nd head, orphaned…

And your red cover of petals
Kept confined a flash,
That kept you confined – dream-truth.
Awake! Don’t fear of seeing truth!

So in your blood-red wind-dance
And in your core of bare stalk ’nd head
Heart of life gives a throb
On your, existing beyond time, core…

Ornament of flash, full of life,
Dancing flame dance, poppy’s blood
Is falling down: whirl of flash,
Whirl of captive and prisoner –

That are dormant and vigilant for ever.
