What are Epic Poems?
Epic poems are long and narrative poems about the adventures and extraordinary feats of people from the distant past. They are usually long stories being told in a poetic form about the heroes who existed a long time back. The stories could be about real as well as fictional characters.
What are the characteristics of Epic Poem?
- Epic poems are typically written in formal tone having the meter and rhyming patten pravelant in the cultural region where they are written.
- They usually date back to very old era.
- Epic poems usually tell stories of heroes, their adventures, their achievements, etc.
- Epic poems are typically narrated in third person.
- Epic poems are usually tellug stories.
- Epic poems are long in length and the length may vary from a few pages up to a whole book.
How to write an Epic Poem?
- In order to write an epic poem, you should begin with a story. Ensure that the story is very close to you and very convincing.
- Then think of the poetic forms and devices that you plan to use for writing the poem, the meter, and the rhyming pattern that you plan to adopt.
- And viola! you are ready to start writing the epic poem.
