All of You

Things which made you happy
Things which made you sad
Things you wish you had again
Things which made you mad

Deeds of which you may be proud
Others not so much
The feeling of rejection
The feeling of a loving touch

Times when you fell short the mark
Times when you were at your best
When in spite of all the odds
You forged ahead and passed that test

Times you found yourself at last
Relaxing in the clover
Times which, if you had the chance,
You’d choose to do over

Times you held a sister up
Times you let a brother down
Times you got a child to smile
Times you made an elder frown

Calls from which you turned away
Those which lead to love —
There’s no use for any of it
To persist regretful of —

For the good, the bad
And, too, the ugly, it is true
All of it went into making
All of — all of — all of you
