Sonnet: One Friend

If one friend sees, if one friend, only, knows —
If but one stalwart brother understand,
One silver sister comprehend the throes —
Ones unique pathway grimly damned demand;

One soul knowlegeably commiserate,
One shoulder will not sudden melt away
‘Neath pressures some intricacy create
All unsuspected on another way;

One walks a path tangential our own,
One who sees clearly what price hath been paid
Assisting those directionless have grown —
One in whom but admiration is made

By all ye truly be, nor need defend,
Protect, dumb down, apologize — a friend
