Sonnet: True Beauty

*****

True beauty emanates from deep within
A loving and a sympathetic soul —
Much deeper than mere surface of the skin
True beauty shines from one whose heart is whole

It matters not if one is slender or
Bountifully proportioned — whether one
Is dark or light — it matters so much more
That in true self-respect each day’s begun

And carried through with calm serenity
For such brings radiance to any face —
A body’s motions harmonious be,
Reflecting such an inner sense of grace

The loveliest of people always are
Those whom within themselves are not at war
