Even in the winter chill
Fashionable women will
Show the city streets up on
With their legs sheer hose upon
Warming boots scornful refuse
Going through the rain in shoes
Hopefully don’t cost too much
For they stain at water’s touch
Not, politely mention, there
Is a lack of underwear
Longer than the merest brief
Brings its wearer small relief
Raging winds and threat’ning skies
A modern outfit these belies
Any hint of layering
Societal scorn will bring —
Unless we go about in less
Somebody might think us homeless
Fail to give us the respect
Anybody should expect
Upon this planet born and live
Ourselves often fail to give
At any hint of clothing be
In line with practicality…
To make up for our lack of heat
We find more and more food to eat
And turn the household thermostat
Up to a temperature that
Bears no viable defense
In planetary overance —
Ladies: want to look “together”?
How ’bout dressing for the weather?
