Studies show that no one cares,
We are all percentages, all statistics,
Numbers that rise each passing year,
Promises to change made then broken.
Adults in power, young bystanders,
Share guilt, feign innocence,
False narratives told for comfort,
Afraid again of being the target.
Easier to forget, ignore signs,
Offered judgment yet refused responsibility,
Wishes now for time to be kind and rewind,
But studies show no one cared in the first place.
