The School Of Envy

I think we can all agree that sometimes school wasn’t all that rosy and sometimes kids can be cruel. Envy is such a poisonous emotion.

So I wrote this for mother’s day a few years back. Its also based on the Ancient Greek myth of Persephone, the goddess of springtime, and Hades, the god of the Underworld.

Horse – An Acrostic

This poem is an ‘Acrostic’. An acrostic is a poem (or other form of writing) in which the first letter (or syllable, or word) of each line (or paragraph, or any other recurring feature in the text) spells out a word, message or the alphabet.

In this poem, the first letter letter in each line when joined together form the word “HORSE”. And the first speaker is trying to ask the second one for a ride together.

Aubade by Ritika Nahata

Aubade

Since I am trying a new poetic form each time. This time it was different. A poem greeting the dawn. Aubade is traditionally a lover’s lament that the night’s passion must come to an end, when finally the lovers separate. This poem has seven quatrains. Each line is exactly nine syllables long. And each stanza has a rhyming scheme of A-A-A-A.
