I Thought I Could Not Be Hurt by Sylvia Plath

I Thought I Could Not Be Hurt | A Poem by Sylvia Plath

‘I Thought That I Could Not be Hurt’ is one of the first poems written by Sylvia Plath during her teenage years with a sad undertone. In this poem, she wants to express how her life was happy and joyful. And how these pleasant feelings aren’t permanent.

The Lesson - A poem by Roger McGough

The Lesson | A Poem by Roger McGough

‘The Lesson’ by Roger McGough depicts the frustrations of a teacher in a very strange and peculiar manner. I cannot, even in my nightmares, imagine any of my teachers could do such a thing, as illustrated so beautifully in the poem.

J. W. Cassandra: Ígéret

The Promise, by J. W. Cassandra: I share my short story, a bit mystique romantic love story. Indeed, I set in it romantic love against that of friendly one. Writing it, I imagined myself slightly into the position of a middle-aged man. The story itself was written in 2011 yet. It belongs to my story book Masquerade of Cycle of Existence. I share the story both in English and Hungarian. I hope, you all can enjoy it.

The Brook by Alfred Lord Tennyson

The Brook | A Poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson

This stream joins the river, its final destiny. And The Brooks (as personified by Alfred Lord Tennyson) mocks the humans as ordinary mortals who get consumed by time.

Sir Tennyson’s love for nature is evident from the fact that how beautifully he adds sensuality in the description of a river.

I Measure Every Grief I meet |Poem by Emily Dickinson

This is an extremely sad poem, much like the life of Emily Dickinson. A poem about her appraisal of the sadness and grief that she meets, and I bet she meets many. This poem just keeps getting sad until the last couple of paragraphs, where she reveals that other’s grief gives her comfort. It is others too, who have suffered. And some of the pains are like hers.

The Patience of Ordinary Things by Pat Schneider

The Patience of Ordinary Things by Pat Schneider

The beauty of this poem lies in its simplicity. How the writer is able to find the greatest of the virtues in the simplest of things.
Everything that we witness daily, the things that are doing nothing more than the routine things are the biggest epitome of patience.

Sci-Fi Story

J. W. Cassandra: Merész álmok

Valiant Dreams, a science fiction short story, by J. W. Cassandra. The story belongs to the anthology of the same title. It was preceded by an other story, The Boxer (Short Stories, 31. March, 2020.). Just as in the previous story, I use the terms ‘boxer’ and ‘spacer’ in the sense of ‘earthling’ and ‘alien’. In some sense, this story is the countinuation of The Boxer but, not entirely. I show in this story an alien spaceship among others. And the reader can be familair with different spaceships, extra-planets, dimensions, etc. I share here the Hungarian version, as well.

Vocation | A Poem by Rabindranath Tagore

Vocation by Rabindranath Tagore is a perfect tour into the mind of a child. This poem shows our inner-most needs. This poem is also a reminder to all the grown-ups that how these needs are curtailed by the parameters of the societal norms.

Sonnet 76 Shakespeare analysis

Sonnet 76 – Why is My Verse So Barren of New Pride by William Shakespeare

William Shakespeare in this sonnet seems a bit concerned about the fact that his style of writing isn’t up-to-date with the new style of writing. Yet he seems to have accepted the fact that it can’t be changed, as it reflects him and his true feelings.
All he can write about is his love.
